PhD Scholarships in Advanced Fatigue Analysis of Metallic Railway Bridge, UK

The University of Surrey has launched the PhD Project in Advanced Fatigue Analysis of Metallic Railway Bridges for the academic year 2022-2023 to develop advanced fatigue analysis methods and tools for metallic railway bridges through experimental and analytical investigations.

Network Rail is funding a three-year studentship for the project. It has the authority to reimburse UK/EU students' academic fees and provide them with a stipend of £16,500 per year to cover their living expenses. Students with an MEng/BEng/MSc in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Aeronautical/Automotive Engineering and comparable abilities who have a UK equivalent 2:1 classification or higher will be considered.

Eligibility

Eligible Countries: All UK and EU nationals are eligible to apply.

Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply to the University of Surrey's Civil and Environmental Engineering PhD program.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must meet all of the following/given requirements to be considered:

Candidates should have experience in numerical (FE) modeling of structures and/or MATLAB, as well as a working knowledge of fatigue and fracture in metallic structures.
