For the academic year 2022-2023, Eisler-Haus Leipzig e. V. is actively providing financial support for international students through its Hanns Eisler Scholarships.
Composers with a university degree or comparable qualification are eligible for the international scholarship. The goal of the program is to provide a platform for the production and promotion of new music. Eisler-Haus Leipzig e. V. developed and produced the program in collaboration with the Leipzig Cultural Office.

The Eisler-Haus Leipzig e.V. was created on February 23, 2016 in Leipzig's Gewandhaus. They were registered in the city of Leipzig's registry of associations on April 25, 2016, and the tax office granted them charity status. Hanns Eisler was a composer from Austria. He is best known for writing the East German national song, his lengthy artistic collaboration with Bertolt Brecht, and the film music he composed.
What makes you want to apply for this program? Hanns Eisler's extremely diverse musical output amazes with a stylistic diversity that borders on the extravagant. They are a group of citizen volunteers who include composers, singers, music students, musicologists, journalists, and publicists, as well as institutional members of the International Hanns Eisler Society in Berlin and the Leipzig Gewandhaus.

Candidates must have high school certificates with a good academic record.

A description of the composition project approx. 3500 characters (chamber music instrumentation for up to nine musicians)

Language Requirement: Applicants must demonstrate that they have a good written and spoken English level.

Benefits
The scholarship is valued at € 1,000 per month for the period of the stay from mid-May to the concert in mid-October 2023.
